This is my first stage performance! I performed this on a small farewll party function organized by MTech 1st year students of Avionics department for their seniors.
Ganesh, the guy who plays badminton with me in the mornings, was one of the organizers of this party. He told a day before that the number of performances are less and may be I can show my talent in that stage. The stage and audience was also small. So, I thought that this is a good opportunity to climb on the stage and agreed to it.
The next day, Sunday, evening around 06:30PM was my performance. It was the first performance of the day. I opened up by saying that I am a newbie to guitar and this was my first stage performance. I was inspired by everyones claps and encouragements. Still I felt shaking and nervous.
I took a chair to sit and play. The lecturer’s mic was given for the audio input, which was hooked on to my guitar’s strap. It didn’t got positioned properly though. And the setup was not good that the background music overtook my play. I was looking at my fretting hand whether am I placing the fingers properly and playing properly etc…
While I am playing, the audience started to clap in synchronous to the tune. It was a delightful experience at that time. Somehow, I played and finished it. In the end I openly told to everyone that it didn’t go as expected but it wa fine.
Like I said to them, this is my first stage performance and I prepared for it within a day time, though I practiced the song for while ago. I think this is better for first time. The next time, I will prepare more strongly and thinking of avoiding the background music so that my play will be heard properly.
