This is a book of translation. It translates one of the three parts of the famous tamil verses collection Thirukkural. The part this book translates is often the most misunderstood one, desire. It is often misunderstood with sexual concepts by the foriegn translators. But, lucky for me, the author Meena Kandhaswamy has given a detailed introduction about these translation misconceptions and the play of Brahmins related to this in the history.

After the introduction, the book is split into chapters, each containing ten verses of Thirukkural under each subsection on one side, and their corresponding english-translated version on the right side.

The author has described it very nicely that I am able to get the correct meaning of each Thirukkural and they are great. The man, Thiruvalluvar, has did an excellent job at this.

This book was referred in the youtube channel The Book Show run by RJ Ananthi. I was impressed, bought this book and travelled through it. If anyone wants to know the exact meaning of these Thirukkurals about desire, this is a good book.
