My book reading journey started in June 2023, during second year in my masters degree. I was inspired by a good friend Manas Vashista to try reading a book. I found it to be joyful and peace to sit alone and read a favourite book.
I started with the book on the cover image, Everyday Calculus, Discovering the hidden math all around us by Oscar E. Fernandez. It is a small book that is about one of my favourite fields Mathematics, how it is hidden all around us everyday. The author has written the book in a fantastic way, that made me to loose the book in a crazy way.
This book is from my institution’s library. For some strange and unknown reasons, they have a whole floor of books under the name Reference section, the books from here will not be lent and the library open timing is felt short. I was fond of this book to the level that I want that book to be there whenever I go to the library.
A crazy idea popped up in my mind which is to hide the book in some other rack in the same floor, so that it may not be caught by other eyes and become unavailable when I need it. I hid the book whenever I leave the library. But the next day, to my surprise, I will always find the book in the right spot. This made me to think that the book has become popular and I may not get it to read.
I hid the book in multiple places in the floor each time. One day, I couldn’t find the book anywhere in the entire five storey library! At the end of the semester, I received a common mail from the library querying about a list of books that is lost. Sadly, I found that book in the list. Some lucky guy took the book before me completing it.
I lost the book, but found a new hobby of reading in me. I explored multiple books since then, mainly from science genre such as Let there be Light by Alex Montwill, and a few more. I tried other genres such as fiction, the first book in this genre was given by Manas named as Animal Farm by George Orwell. It is a small but beautifully written book.
I would like to have a log of books and other materials that I read with my comments on them. So, I will be recording my reading journey with brief descriptions and personal feel of each literature here. You can find the log in the below link
